The Center for Entrepreneurship and the Internet is an open initiative of the National Secretariat of Information and Communication Technologies (SENATICs), the Association of High Level Domains of Latin America and the Caribbean (LACTLD) and ICANN. The Center was created with the aim of contributing to the evolution of the Internet ecosystem in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The Center will be a repository of knowledge and a point of contact and exchange in which to acquire and share experience, resources, training and support for the implementation of initiatives and projects in digital environments.

In principle, the Center will focus on capacity building on the ecosystem of the Domain Name System (DNS) industry in the region. The training and training activities will facilitate opportunities to form a team with relevant partners for the exchange of experiences, the construction of a network of experts and the opening of new ways to progress and strengthen the sector.

The idea of ​​creating the Center arose from dialogues between SENATICs and ICANN. The result of these dialogue instances was an agreement to support the development of the Internet DNS industry, both in Paraguay and within the region. LACTLD joined the initiative to generate synergies among regional operators of domain names with country code. The Center is open and dedicated to the realization of a wide range of partnerships with industry players.

Stakeholders from the Internet governance community in the region created an Advisory Committee that will be responsible for guiding the implementation and strategies of the Center. The committee is composed of Andrés Piazza (General Manager of LACTLD), Anthony Harris (Executive Director of CABASE), Ernesto Bojorquez (Commercial Director of NIC.mx), Gabriela Szlak and Celia Leman Friedman (eInstituto), Gonzalo Navarro (CEO of ALAI ), León Sánchez (partner in Fulton & Fulton SC), Rubens Kuhl (Manager of NIC.br) and Vanda Scartezini (Polo Consultores Associados).

The inauguration of the Center will take place on October 12, 2016 in Asunción, Paraguay. This celebration will coincide with the opening day of the first training course offered by the Center.

Call for applicants to participate in the first training course. The Center invites applicants within the region to submit their application to participate in their first training course. The course will be held between October 12 and 14, and the agenda will cover business, commercial and legal aspects of the DNS industry. The Center will provide travel support to the 10 candidates who best demonstrate their interest in developing the domain name industry within the region, share the knowledge they acquire with their local communities, develop business models and collaborate with the future development of the domain. Call for the creation of associations. Those interested are invited (regional organizations, private sector companies, individuals) to contribute with the consolidation of the Center, which includes developing the activities of the organization in other countries.
